This is part of the lyrics from Alicia Keys' "Empire State of Mind, Part II", which I was listening to while trying to run my 5 miles today. Of course, my left knee gave in around 3.5 miles and I had to walk and jog the rest of the way. It's sad what one marathon can do to you. I may have to take swimming lessons soon. Anyhow, I never stopped to listen to the lyrics before, and finally had the chance to today. It really shines a uplifting light to the city of New York, but to me it's simply inspirational, no matter where you are from.
